What is needed for parents attending field trips?
Permission from the teacher is required as many trips only allow for a few chaperones, payment to attend if chosen, and a signed copy of the chaperone guidelines. A background clearance is requested through the BIBBs system, but not required. Please visit the school office for more details.

How do I apply for Pre-K?
Visit Delta’s office and complete the registration form with your two proofs of residence.

Do you offer a Pre-K?
Yes, Delta has a Pre-K Title I First Class unit.

How do I pick-up my child from school?
- Enter near the Delta Marquee and exit near the parking lot. If you are checking your child out, please have your identification with you, enter through the main doors across from the flagpole, press the video monitor, show your identification, state your reason for visiting, sign your child out on the office computer, wait for your child to come to the office.
- If you are new to carline, enter near the Delta Marquee, stay off the driveway until all 3 buses pull around to the front of the school, then pull up to the brick columns, remain in your car, students will be called to your car one at a time. Please be patient!

Student pickup- how to change?
- If you wish to change your child’s end-of-day transportation please try to write this in the agenda, but if an emergency occurs, please contact the school office before 2:00 p.m. at 251.937.3657. Transportation passes are given daily, but should be on rare occasions.
- After school child care must be notified at least one week in advance of any change in schedule. Students may be picked up after 3:15 p.m.

What time can I expect the bus to arrive at my home?
Please speak to your child’s bus driver for drop off times as these vary. Buses are dismissed from Delta daily around 3:10 p.m.

Please speak to your child’s bus driver for pickup times as these vary. Students are picked up between 6:20 a.m. and 7:20 a.m.

Do you offer after-school care?
Yes, Delta has Project DELTA daily until 5:30

What is the cost of school snacks?
Ice cream cost $1.00

Are school snacks offered for purchase?
Ice cream is sold daily for $1, but some grade levels opt to have ice cream only on certain days of the week.

How many absences can my child have?
9 parent notes are allowed according to the attendance policy, but every day a student misses school is a day they can never duplicate.

When do absences become an issue?
Any missed instruction is a concern! Written notification for each absence and the reason is required. After 9 parent notes unexcused absences begin to accumulate.

- Delta Elementary’s office hours are 7:00 - 4:00
- Students may arrive at 7:15 am
- 7:45 am First Bell
- 8:00 am Tardy Bell - students are late after 8:00 am

IEP/ 504 plan- what to do?
If your child has an IEP, please contact the case manager or the school office. If you believe your child has a learning disability, please contact either the Principal, Keri Shofner at kshofner@bcbe.org, or the IEP Chairperson, Angela Morris at almorris@bcbe.org.

Do you have a Friday shirt?
No, we do not have a Friday shirt due to students being allowed to wear their Delta Pride shirts daily.
BMMS and BCHS Pride shirts may be worn on Friday.

What days can my child be out of uniform?
Students may be out of uniform ONLY when they receive an Out Of Uniform certificate for various reasons. The certificate must submit the certificate on the day they are out of uniform.
BCHS and BMMS Pride shirts may be worn on Fridays ONLY!

Where can I purchase school uniforms?
Uniforms may be purchased at any store, Delta Pride shirts are sold on Delta’s Website under Pay Fees or at the school office. Pride shirts are pre-order only. Please contact the school office for more details.

What is your uniform policy?

Do you offer a PTO? How do I join?
Delta Elementary has a Delta Advisory in leu of a PTO. We meet at least quarterly to discuss upcoming events, current progress toward our ACIP goals, discuss budget items, and create a time for collaboration of all stakeholders.

- Delta Elementary’s average student/teacher ratio is 1:20.
- Grade levels vary in actual student/teacher ratio and change with enrollments and withdrawals

Elementary schools do not have registration fees.

What clubs or organizations are available?
Delta hosts mentor clubs on a regular basis where various activities are enjoyed while discussing goals and progress.

My child currently attends public school in Baldwin County, how do I transfer my child to a new school?
- Withdraw your child from the current school, where they will provide you with a copy of your child’s immunization records, a copy of their birth certificate, and social security card, and ensure there are no outstanding fees.
- Bring all provided documents to the new school along with 2 proofs of current residence.

How do I register my child?
- 2019-2020 NEW STUDENT Registration for Students New to Baldwin County Public Schools Registration for students new to Baldwin County Public Schools (never have been enrolled) is now open. Please use the link New Families page, to register your child. This section offers a wealth of information.
- Note: On May 10, 2016, Governor Robert Bentley signed into law Alabama Act #2016-297. Beginning with the 2016-2017 school year, the Act requires local education agencies to allow a child who is six years of age on or before December 31 to enroll in first grade. This extends the timeframe from the current date of on or before September 1 for first grade only. It does NOT extend the timeframe for enrollment in kindergarten.
- Act #2016-297 amends the Alabama Code (1975), §16-28-4, minimum age for admission to first grade - a child who is 6 years of age on or before September 1 or the date on which school begins in the enrolling school system shall be entitled to admission to the public elementary schools at the opening of such schools for that school year or as soon as practical thereafter.

- Required Documentation – Students entering the school system for the first time, regardless of grade level, are not required to submit a birth certificate, but may be requested to submit a birth certificate or another form of acceptable documentation to verify the student’s age. A social security number may also be requested, but such request is voluntary and is not a requirement of enrollment. In addition, students will be required to submit other registration materials in accordance with State law and as school officials may reasonably require including, but not limited to, a certificate of immunization or an exemption as prescribed by the Department of Public Health and signed by a private physician or appropriate health department official. The Superintendent may accept alternate forms of evidence or modify otherwise applicable requirements as necessary and appropriate to accommodate migrant, immigrant, limited English proficient or homeless students.

When is the first day of school?
The first day of school is August 14, 2019. Students may be escorted in on this day only. Please make your good-byes short and sweet and have a great day! Your child will be ready to see you after school!
