Foley Middle School Activities and Clubs

  • STEM Club

    • Explores many science concepts in a fun, activity-based format
    • Will meet once day per month after school
    • Fee-$20 covers the cost of a drink and snack and is used to purchase supplies for the hands-on science labs

    TSA: Technology Student Association/ Robotics

    • Fosters personal growth, leadership, and opportunities in technology, innovation, design, and engineering through activities such as building airplanes and program software
    • Will meet once a week after school and will attend competitions
    • Look for posters around the school advertising the recruitment meeting
    • A fee will be required

    Peer Helpers

    • Provides mentoring, mediation, tutoring, and friendship to students
    • This is for 8th graders only
    • Students will apply at the end of their 7th-grade year; they must have nothing less than a C average, have good attendance, and no major discipline referrals
    • Teacher recommendations and applications required

    National Junior Honor Society

    • International organization that serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, character, citizenship, and service
    • Membership is by invitation only
    • Requires some sort of school service to the community, school, & other organization

    Art Club

    • Lead and Taught by our Art Teacher Mrs. Esposito
    • Will meet after school on Wednesdays from 3:15-4:15.

    Friends of Exceptional Children (FEC)

    • Provides friendships while developing compassion and raising support and awareness for people with physical and intellectual disabilities
    • Participates in various activities and projects throughout the school year as well as assists at Special Olympics

    Family, Career, Community, Leaders of America (FCCLA)

    • Professional student organization that provides personal growth, leadership development, career preparation, and service for the community for students in Family and Consumer Science (FACS) education
    • Open to any 8th-grade FACS student

    SGA: Student Government Association

    • Focuses on leadership and service
    • Elections will be held early in the school year

    Yearbook

    Scholars Bowl

    • This is a Jeopardy-style competition where students compete as a team to answer trivia questions to earn points
    • Sign-ups will be in September. Tryouts will be conditional on the number of students who sign up.
    • Will meet once a week after school (usually Wednesdays) from 3:05-4:30.
    • Will host competitions at FMS as well as travel to other schools to compete, and compete in the county tournament.
