Veterans and First Responders Honor Week November 4-7

In the past, our school has provided two Veterans Day assemblies.  If you have attended these programs, you know how wonderful they are.  We also know that the rooms have become “standing room only,” and we now have much less parking than in the past for all of our Veterans. 

Our Leadership Team at the school has been rethinking this week to not only accommodate all of our Veterans and First Responders, but also offer the same impactful experience to our kids as well.

We would like to try a Veterans and First Responders Honor Week the week of November 4-7.  It’s important that we communicate this early, so attendees can know the date and time to be honored.  The following activities that week have several parts, so please carefully review the schedule.  We are essentially creating 7 smaller activities from the 2 assemblies we had in prior years.

Each of the 7 activities will include:

• A PowerPoint slideshow, similar to the slideshow used in past assemblies, that honors Veterans and First Responders.   The sideshow will play in all classrooms during the week and during the luncheon program.
• An Honors Walk down our main hallway, Leadership Lane.
• A lunch (or luncheons) with your child(ren).
• A special honor from your child’s grade level.

HERE ARE THE STEPS TO MAKE THIS A GREAT EXPERIENCE FOR VETERANS, FIRST RESPONDERS, AND KIDS!

1. KNOW THE SCHEDULE:

5^TH GRADE- MONDAY, NOVEMBER 4^th

If you have a child in 5^th grade, this is your day!  If you have another child in another grade level, you may certainly attend those days/times too!

11:15- Veterans and First Responders enter through the front of the school.  Meet in the lobby/library.  Office staff will have 5^th grade students meet you in the in the lobby/library.

11:25- Veterans and First Responders are honored by Kindergarten students in our hallways and process to the Cafeteria.

11:30- Veterans are treated to lunch with their child while 5^th grade students provide a special honor.

12:00- Veterans enjoy the artwork and writings in the Cafeteria

12:15- Dismissal

KINDERGARTEN- TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 5^TH

If you have a child in Kindergarten, this is your day!  If you have another child in another grade level, you may certainly attend those days/times too!

10:15- Veterans and First Responders enter through the front of the school.  Meet in the lobby/library.  Office staff will have Kindergarten students meet you in the in the lobby/library.

10:25- Veterans and First Responders are honored by 2^nd Grade and Kindergarten students in our hallways and process to the Cafeteria.

10:30- Veterans are treated to lunch with their child while Kindergarten students provide a special honor.

11:00- Veterans enjoy the artwork and writings in the Cafeteria

11:15- Dismissal

2^ND GRADE- TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 5^TH

If you have a child in 2^nd grade, this is your day!  If you have another child in another grade level, you may certainly attend those days/times too!

11:30- Veterans and First Responders enter through the front of the school.  Meet in the lobby/library.  Office staff will have 2^nd grade students meet you in the in the lobby/library.

11:40- Veterans and First Responders are honored by Kindergarten and 2^nd grade students in our hallways and process to the Cafeteria.

11:45- Veterans are treated to lunch with their child while 2^nd grade students provide a special honor.

12:15- Veterans enjoy the artwork and writings in the Cafeteria

12:30- Dismissal

4TH GRADE- WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 6^TH

If you have a child in 4th grade, this is your day!  If you have another child in another grade level, you may certainly attend those days/times too!

10:50- Veterans and First Responders enter through the front of the school.  Meet in the lobby/library.  Office staff will have 4th grade students meet you in the in the lobby/library.

11:05- Veterans and First Responders are honored by 6^th grade and 4^th students in our hallways and process to the Cafeteria.

11:10- Veterans are treated to lunch with their child while 4th grade students provide a special honor.

11:40- Veterans enjoy the artwork and writings in the Cafeteria

11:50- Dismissal

6TH GRADE- WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 6^TH

If you have a child in 6th grade, this is your day!  If you have another child in another grade level, you may certainly attend those days/times too!

12:15- Veterans and First Responders enter through the front of the school.  Meet in the lobby/library.  Office staff will have 6th grade students meet you in the in the lobby/library.

12:30- Veterans and First Responders are honored by 4th grade and 6^th grade students in our hallways and process to the Cafeteria.

1ST GRADE- THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 7TH

3RD GRADE- THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 7TH

If you have a child in 3rd grade, this is your day!  If you have another child in another grade level, you may certainly attend those days/times too!

12:45- Veterans enjoy the artwork and writings in the Cafeteria

1:00- Dismissal

 If you submitted a picture and description of your Veteran or First Responder last year, we will automatically include them in this year’s PowerPoint presentation!  Nothing more needs to be done!

4. KNOW THE LUNCH PLAN AND CONSIDER BUYING A LUNCH FOR A VETERAN OR FIRST RESPONDER!

 For lunch that day, we would like to provide our Veterans and First Responders a lunch!  Lunch will be a boxed lunch from Newks which will be in the Cafeteria.  Provided Newks lunches will only be for Veterans and First Responders.

All students will eat lunch as they regularly do with a lunch packed from home OR a free lunch from the cafeteria. 

If the Veteran or First Responder’s family or guest is attending with them, please bring a lunch OR choose to purchase a lunch from our Cafeteria for $4.65.  Cafeteria lunches will be paid for at the time you pick up the lunch.
