What time does school begin and end?
Loxley Elementary School doors open at 7:15 am. Students should be in the classroom by 7:50. Our dismissal process begins at 2:45 pm.

What time should my student arrive at school for breakfast?
We begin serving breakfast at 7:15. Students need to be finished in the cafeteria and in their classroom no later than 7:40.

Where does my child go when they get to school?
Students who eat breakfast at school will go directly to the cafeteria. K-3 students will go to the hallway and grades 4-6 will go directly to the gym.
Teachers, our School Resource Officer, and other Loxley police officers will be out on the sidewalks and in the K-3 building to assist students in getting to their classrooms the first week of school.

How will my child get home in the afternoons?
CARS MUST HAVE CAR NUMBERS DISPLAYED. Anyone without a number will be asked to show an ID at the front office to pick up their child.
Please call the front office at 251-964-5334 about bus transportation. If you do not know which bus picks up at a stop closest to your 911 address, our office ladies are ready to assist you.

If I don’t have a car tag number, when can I get it?
Mrs. Patty, our office clerk, assigns car tag numbers for carline. Carline Tags are given out at Meet the Teacher each August in the gym. If you need a carline number and tag during the school year, please come to the front office, and Mrs. Patty will help you.

How can I change my child’s dismissal procedure?
Consistency in dismissal is very important. Texts or phone calls will not be accepted for changes in dismissal. If a change in dismissal is necessary, a written note must be sent to the front office for approval. Please do your best to plan ahead for dismissal and have a routine.

How can I contact my child’s teacher?
Communication between the teacher and parent is very valuable. You may send a note in your child’s school agenda, send an email to the teacher, send a message through REMIND or call and leave a message for the teacher. Email or written note is the preferred method. Please give teachers 48 hours to respond. If there is an emergency situation, please contact the front office. Administrators are also here to support our families and staff.

Can I drop off snacks or other forgotten items?
Please plan ahead so that snacks and school items come to school with your child. Important items will be taken at the front door.

How do I get medication to the nurse?
Our nurse will be at Meet the Teacher for any families wishing to drop off medications for students. During the school year, you may call the school at 251-964-5334 and ask to speak to the nurse about any questions you may have.

Can I eat lunch with my child occasionally?
Due to limited space, please save eating lunch with your child for birthday celebrations.

Do students have snack or a break?
Yes. Students may bring a snack and drink from home or purchase one from school each day. All snacks are $.50 each. Ice cream is sold on the first Friday of the month.

What are the car line rules?
- Parent/Guardian must sign-up in the office for a car pick-up number before being permitted to pick-up a student in carline. Drivers without a current LES car tag will be required to show ID in the office. The student(s) will be walked to the office following carline time. Lost car tags require a new number to be issued and a $5 fee.
- No smoking in car line. Our campus is a smoke free, drug free campus.
- Carline begins at 7:15 each morning. The tardy bell rings at 7:48. If you arrive prior to 7:48, please check in your child at the front office.
- Do not block carline traffic. If you have an issue that will cause a delay, please pull forward and park out of the way of carline
- Cars are in two lines and proceed around the circle (follow the arrows)
- Drivers must not exit their cars for any reason
- Watch adults on duty for stop, load, & go directions
- Students waiting for cars must remain quiet and obey instructions from staff
- Students not picked up by 3:10pm will wait in the office.
