We participate in the Baldwin County Education Coalition's annual Teacher of the Year program! Our most recent Teacher of the Year is Grace Garner, a Special Education teacher, winning Teacher of the Year at Elsanor Elementary School for the 2023-2024 school year.

Recognitions

Alabama Science of Reading Spotlight School

Elsanor Elementary received a letter of Commendation after being recognized by the Alabama State Department of Education as a Science of Reading Spotlight School. Elsanor was one of eleven schools recognized in the state in the summer of 2022.

Science of Reading Spotlight Schools were chosen based upon the following criteria:

-Third grade progess in reading achievement beginning in 2019

-Fully trained faculty in the Science of Reading, including the principal

-Effective literacy instruction supported by the local reading specialist and school leadership

As a result, Elsanor Elementary School was featured at a session at the 2022 MEGA Conference in Mobile (state educational conference). We were also an instructional lab site for the 2022-2023 school year, where we hosted other schools to provide professional learning opportunities. Elsanor School provided model teaching, coaching and/or parent support through video vignettes used across the state of Alabama.
