SFHS SWIM TEAM
All swimmers must be in grades 7-12 to participate. Swimmers must turn in all required paperwork (see below) in order to try out for the team.
Before practicing or trying out for the team, all athletes must turn in the REQUIRED FORMS.
HS Swimmers must turn in their required forms to Coach Womack, Portable 4
MS Swimmers must turn in their required forms to Coach Moore, Room 24
Tryouts will take place Tuesday, September 5th at he Lake Forest pool. Address info below. The cutoff time in order to practice at Lake Forest is 45 seconds or under in a 50 free. The cutoff time to practice at the YMCA (second half of the season) is 36 seconds.
REQUIRED FORMS
1) A physical signed by an MD. The physical should last through the entire season (till Dec. 5). Physicals expire after one year.
2) Copy of Birth Certificate (if you swam last year for the HS, I have this).
3) Sportsmanship certificate. To complete go to AHSAA.com>NFHS Sportsmanship>NFHS Sportsmanship Course>Order Course. Complete the program and print the certificate at the end. It will be a good idea to screenshot the certificate as well. We can not print your certificate for you (as STAR Sportsmanship allowed us to do)
4) The remaining forms are on DragonFlyMax. See flyer under forms.
PLEASE, DO NOT TURN FORMS IN TO A PE COACH OR ATHLETIC DIRECTOR. Turn your form in to Coach Moore or Womack.
SWIM TEAM FEE:
The fees will be released after tryouts on Sept. 5. We expect the fees to be about $200 toward the school and $100 to the swim team booster club, per swimmer.
The team fees do not include suits, warmups, or goggles. Swimmers will need to pay for latex caps and silicone caps separately.
WHAT SWIMMERS SHOULD BRING TO PRACTICE:
Towel, goggles, and cap (if the swimmer has long hair).
CONFLICTS WITH SWIM MEETS: Swimmers or their parents must notify Coach Moore at least 48 hrs. in advance it there is a
scheduling conflict. If you do not notify in advance, the relays and entries are thrown off, which hurts the entire team.
WHAT TO DO ON MEET DAYS:
Middle School students can ride their normal bus if it is 1st wave and goes directly to the HS. Otherwise, swimmers can also ride with a parent to the high school, but please be early in the car line. All students should report to the HS cafeteria to eat with the team. Coach Womack picks up the team and we go by bus to the swim meet. For Saturday meets, swimmers must travel independently by car.
Our year-round swimmers are not required to attend the HS practice if they are attending practice with their year-round club. The athlete should attend the HS practice if they do not swim with their club on a Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday.Remind Messages
Swimmers and Parents MUST sign up for Remind alerts. Remind messages are text messages that I can send quickly, rather than an e-mail.
Please text “sfswi” to 81010. It will ask for your name. Please put your full name so I can text just you in times of emergency. The text messages will
not allow others to reply or send mass texts. You may unsubscribe later by texting back “stop” to a text message sent from the swim team account.
