Melanie Smith, Assistant Principal
-
My name is Melanie Smith, and I have been at CBMS since 2012. I was an 8th-grade English Teacher, the Curriculum Leader, and now I am an Assistant Principal here. I have been in Education since 2003, and previously taught English at Daphne High School in Baldwin County, and Pelham High School in Shelby County. Throughout my years as a teacher, I coached cheerleading at Pelham High School, Daphne High School, and Central Baldwin Middle School.
I graduated from Robertsdale High School in 1997. I graduated with a Bachelor's Degree from Troy University in 2001. I then earned a Master's Degree in Secondary English Education from The University of Montevallo in 2003. In 2011, I earned another Master's Degree in Instructional Leadership from The University of West Alabama.
I am married to my husband, Russ, and we have two daughters, Caroline and Camille. I truly love Central Baldwin Middle School and the Robertsdale Community where my family has resided for generations. I am grateful to be able to work and serve in the community where I grew up, and look forward to a great school year!

Kim Dean, Assistant Principal

My name is Kim Dean, and I am so excited to join the CBMS family as one of the Assistant Principals. I have over 26 years of educational experience, and I have taught in Baldwin, Chambers, Coosa, and Tuscaloosa counties.
I graduated from Auburn University in Montgomery in 1997 with my B.S. degree in Special Education, mild learning behavior disorders, grades P-12. I earned my M.Ed. from the University of West Alabama in Special Education, grades K-6. In 2021, I returned to UWA to complete an additional certificate in Instructional Leadership.
My husband and I live in Daphne with our youngest daughter, Emma, a Sophomore at Robertsdale High School. Our oldest daughter, Payton, and her husband, Joshua, live in Mobile. They have two beautiful girls, Laurel and August, and I love being their Mimi. I am originally from Alexander City, Alabama, but I have lived in beautiful Baldwin County for the past 19 years with my family. We love this wonderful community and attend 3 Circle Church in Fairhope.
I am so excited about getting back to my middle school roots and working alongside some of the most talented teachers in Baldwin County. I look forward to serving the incredible students and families walking through our doors at CBMS. #Baldwinproud. #GoBears
