Welcome to Florence B. Mathis Elementary School! My name is Gina Gipson, and I am honored to serve as the Principal of this exceptional school community.

A bit about me: I hold a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of Southern Mississippi, a master’s degree in Elementary Education, and I am a National Board Certified Teacher. I have also earned certification in Educational Leadership. I love school and learning. In fact, I am currently pursuing further studies in Instructional Leadership at the University of West Alabama!

As I transition into this position mid-year, I am committed to building strong relationships with the Mathis family—students, staff, and parents alike. With 28 years in education, I’ve learned every child learns and grows at their own pace. As educators, it is our mission to meet each child where they are and guide them to reach their fullest potential. I am passionate about fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment where every student can excel academically, socially, and emotionally.

Parental involvement plays a vital role in the success of our students. I encourage open communication with our teachers and administrative team and welcome your ideas and suggestions. Together, we can enhance the school climate and provide enriching educational experiences for all students.
