The band program at Elberta consists of students from grades 6 – 11. Students who attend Elberta Elementary School in the 6thgrade are welcome to join the beginning band in order to learn the basics of reading music and performing on a selected woodwind, brass, or percussion instrument. Students in 7th and 8th grade who attend Elberta Middle School are eligible to be in the middle school band, which is a continuation of where they left off from their 6th grade year. Students who are in 8thgrade and above are eligible to be a part of Elberta High School’s Band of Warriors Marching Band and the Elberta High School Concert Band. Practices for the marching band begin in July, and concert band begins as soon as football/marching season concludes. Students who are in the 9th grade and above are also eligible to join the EHS jazz band and try out for the Band of Warriors’ Color Guard. Guard auditions take place during the spring semester prior to the upcoming year.
For students who are interested in joining and who need an instrument, the best avenue of obtaining one is through a music retailer (Art’s Music from Montgomery, Schmidt’s Music from Pensacola, Andy’s Music from Mobile, etc).
