BCVSS Advanced Placement Courses 2022-2023
Advanced Placement courses follow College Board pacing/curricula, and allow students to gain possible college credit based on their performance on a standardized exam at the end of the course. The test fee for 2022- 2023 is $98 (cost subject to change) per AP exam. BCVSS expects students to take the exam if they are enrolled in the AP class.

The weighted GPA is designed to reflect the varying skill required for different level courses. The weighted GPA scale assigns higher quality points for grades earned in difficult courses (numerical grades remain unaffected). The weighted GPA is printed on the student transcript for the purposes of college admission and scholarship applications only. The Weighted GPA Point Scale adds either .5 or 1.0 to the quality point value for the grade earned in that course. In AP courses, a student must complete the AP Exam in order to be awarded the 1.0 quality point value rather than the .5 weight.
