BELFOREST CAR RIDER AND BUS PROCEDURES
MORNING CAR LINE PROCEDURES
At the beginning of the year, car line may open as early as 7:00 to accommodate traffic flow in the opening days. Generally, car line begins in the morning at 7:15. Staff members are not in place to properly supervise students before this time. Students should not be dropped off on campus prior to 7:15. Children being brought to school by car should be dropped off only in the loading/unloading zone on the EAST side of campus. Children should not exit their car anywhere else during the morning car rider time.
Cars should enter on the EAST side of campus along County Road 54 East. Cars should follow the traffic to the loading/unloading canopy. Cars that arrive early, prior to 7:15, may line up in three designated lanes by the loading/unloading canopy. Cars should be placed in “park” with engines off when waiting for children to be allowed to unload. At 7:15, a signal will be given for all children to unload. All three queued lanes will unload. Children should be ready with their items for the day (backpack, lunch, etc.). Staff will supervise all children while unloading. Once staff has cleared all children safely to the loading/unloading canopy, the lanes will be cleared to begin normal, routine drop-off traffic flow.
Normal car line drop-off will consist of a singular car line along the loading and unloading canopy. For the carline to run smoothly, please have your child ready to get out of your vehicle when you come to a complete stop in the loading/unloading zone. When your car comes to a complete stop in the loading/unloading zone, students may exit the vehicle. Students should exit their vehicle from the passenger side of the vehicle so that students may walk directly to the sidewalk without crossing in front or behind your vehicle. No cell phones are to be used in car line for safety reasons. We are a smoke free campus, and we ask that you refrain from smoking or vaping in car line. Please observe our rules with the goal of student safety first and efficient traffic flow second.
After students safely exit the car, traffic flow should continue back to County Road 54 East. PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT ACCESSING COUNTY ROAD 64 WESTBOUND TOWARD 181 WILL BE DIFFICULT.
TO ACCESS 181 OR ANY OTHER EASTBOUND TRAVEL: PLEASE EXIT THE CAMPUS AND TAKE A RIGHT (TRAVELING SOUTH) ON COUNTY ROAD 54 EAST FOR ALTERNATIVE ROUTES TO ACCESS HIGHWAY 181.
TO ACCESS 181, WE STRONGLY SUGGEST TURNING RIGHT (SOUTH) ON COUNTY ROAD 54 EAST, THEN:
- Take Right (West) on Garrett Road
- Take Left (South) on County Road 54 West
- Take Right (West) on Belforest Cemetery Road
- Take Left (South) on Austin Road to Highway 181
TO ACCESS HWY 59 OR ANY OTHER WESTBOUND TRAVEL: PLEASE EXIT THE CAMPUS AND TAKE A LEFT (TRAVELING NORTH) ON COUNTY ROAD 54 EAST. THEN TAKE A RIGHT (TRAVELING EAST) ON COUNTY ROAD 64 TO ACCESS HIGHWAY 59 OR NEIGHBORHOODS EAST OF THE SCHOOL.
Please be prepared in thinking about this for your morning commute. As with all of our operations, we will monitor this closely to see if there is a more effective way to coordinate traffic. As with all new procedures, these things take time and patience. Basically, parents of children that live in the subdivision to the immediate East of the school and the subdivisions East of the school on County Road 64, should take a LEFT when exiting our campus from carline. All others, are being asked to take a RIGHT.
The WEST side of the school is strictly for buses, vans, and school personnel until 8:00 AM. Please do not use the WEST entrance.
When students exit their vehicle, all students will enter through the middle hallway entitled “Honesty Path.” Upon entering, students will automatically have their temperature scanned. Students will report to their classrooms and sit outside their room or report to the cafeteria for breakfast services. Faculty and staff will be assigned throughout the building to monitor and supervise children at all times.
AFTERNOON DISMISSAL PROCEDURES
2:50 Bell- Car Line Begins
2:55- 1st Wave Bus/Van Riders
3:05- 2nd Wave Bus/Van Riders, After School Services
Our primary focus for afternoon dismissal is safety first and efficiency second. EVERY parent should download the app pikmykid. Pikmykid pairs each child with a personal transportation identification number, allowing users to manage their child’s dismissal, change their child’s dismissal method, and receive push notifications regarding the status and whereabouts of their child.
For this initial year, Pikmykid will be phased in, beginning with users that access car line, then buses, after school daycares, and After School Child Care. BFES will communicate with parents regarding downloading the application and when further components are readied.
AFTERNOON CAR LINE PROCEDURES
Afternoon car line begins at 2:50. Once the line is effectively managed, car line should conclude at 3:20. Cars should enter campus from County Road 54 East. Parents should “ANNOUNCE” they are on campus by using the pikmykid app on their phone. A sign will be at the entrance of car line reminding parents to “announce” they are in car line. For those picking students up that may not have the app on their phone, a traditional transportation ID number will be provided to parents. The parent can provide the transportation to a relative or other designee to allow for student pick up.
Cars should fill the three lanes along the awning. As children are dismissed from their classroom, they will exit the East end of the hallways and go to the car awning. Under the awning there is a loading/caution line. Children will be taught to follow the line or stay behind the line and wait before loading. Cars will load 10 at a time at the front of each line. Once children have safely loaded, the line will be dismissed to exit.
No cell phones are to be used in car line for safety reasons. We are a smoke free campus, and we ask that you refrain from smoking or vaping in car line. Please observe our rules with the goal of student safety first and efficient traffic flow second.
BELFOREST BUS INFORMATION AND SIGN UP / BELFOREST WALKERS
This information is great for EVERYONE so please watch the video using the link provided. However, ONLY those families that plan to use bus services as a regular transportation method at some point this school year need to complete the “Bus Transportation Form.” This video will also address walkers.

- AFTER YOU WATCH THE VIDEO, please complete the Bus Transportation form by following this link: Bus Transportation Form
In order to help our students, especially our younger ones, find their buses at dismissal time, we have given each bus a "critter" name with a magnetic sign featuring a picture of the critter. Critters include: Rhino, Eagle, Lion, Zebra, Ladybug, Elephant, Dog, Butterfly, and Tiger.
