The philosophy of the Spanish Fort Middle School Special Education Department is that all children can learn and when given the right supports and services can become productive and involved citizens in our community. A full range of services, meeting the needs of all identified disabled students, are utilized at Spanish Fort Middle in order to best serve our special needs population. These services include self-contained classes for students with significant intellectual and physical needs to monitoring services for students needing minor support and services. Disabilities recognized by the State of Alabama include Autism, Deaf-Blindness, Developmental Delay, Emotional Disability, Hearing Impairment, Intellectual Disabilities, Multiple Disabilities, Orthopedic Impairment, Other Health Impairment, Specific Learning Disability, Speech or Language Impairment, Traumatic Brain Injury and Visual Impairment
