About the Special Services Department

  • The Special Services Department promotes opportunities for gifted and disabled students to participate in educational activities designed to facilitate maximum student achievement. A full range of services, meeting the needs of all identified disabled students (Pre-K – 12), is offered in all schools in the Baldwin County Public School System. Disabilities recognized by the State of Alabama include Autism, Deaf-Blindness, Developmental Delay, Emotional Disability, Hearing Impairment, Intellectual Disabilities, Multiple Disabilities, Orthopedic Impairment, Other Health Impairments, Specific Learning Disability, Speech or Language Impairment, Traumatic Brain Injury, and Visual Impairment.

2023 Special Olympics

  • 2023 Spring Games MILES OF SMILES: Welcome to the BCBE 2023 Special Olympics. The student athletes compete in a variety of games, including the 50 and 100-meter dash, long jump, shot put, bocce ball throw, softball throw, wheelchair races, and more. The athletes were cheered on by students in Project Jubilee, cheer teams, Dogwood Trail Maids, law enforcement personnel, BCBE staff, family members, and more.
